Word

Word that I like:
OSTENTATIOUS

(It means "showy" and is usually used in a negative sense. Ironic how the word "ostentatious" is just as showy as the noun which it is referring to.)

Word that I don't like:
LOINS

I can't think of any possible place where this word could be used without giving me shivers down my arms.

And why is ABBREVIATE such a long word?

I like:

QUINTESSENTIAL

Used appropriately, it makes one sound wonderfully intelligent.

I don't like:

AT

There is nothing wrong with the word itself, but when used to conclude a sentence, it causes my hair to stand on end.

I like:

non sequitur

It's about as goofy as it's meaning.

I don't like:

fun

It's over-used, and I'm one of the ones who needs a thesaurus to find a good replacement!
